Ah, the rewards of teaching! It all started in the computer lab as the kids were finishing parts of their slide shows. They have to have credits at the end and I am used to being included by quite a few – the first sign is numerous voices asking me how to spell my surname. The format they often seem to choose for this credit is: “Thanks to Google and Mrs. Shillolo.”
However one budding filmmaker set a new standard today. His opinion speech and slide show are about his neighbour’s annoying donkey. I had helped him edit it to turn it from a series of anecdotes into an opinion piece. However instead of thanking me for help with the writing, he credits me as follows: “Thanks to Mrs. Shillolo, the inspiration for donkeys.”
